2D
Our on site service is particularly applicable for companies with complex templates where customers input during the process is required to ensure that the digitised data reflects the true pattern requirements.
For example, existing card or plywood templates may have been used for a long period of time so edges become damaged and what appears to be a complex curve is actually a straight line (or an arc), a corner can appear rounded when it actually it is not etc etc.
In fact digitising your templates provides an opportunity to tidy up the patterns so that it does not rely on your cutter knowing that this particular template is worn so you need to add half an inch here, quarter of an inch there etc.
When the templates have been digitised, the data can be stored on a secure server on or off site, printed/plotted when required and modifications to patterns can be done easily in CAD rather than creating new templates.
Pattern data will be provided in DXF, unless requested otherwise.
Assistance can also be provided for translation of files into particular computerised cutting formats.
3D
The 3D digitising service would usually be offered at a customer site rather than our premises, although it does depend upon the nature of the object requiring digitising!
We use the top of the range Proliner 8 for this service.
It enables us to measure up to 7m in any direction at one time from the location of the Proliner and larger distances by a process called ‘leapfrogging’ where reference points are digitised from one location, then entered into the unit after it has been moved to another location.
This process enables us to digitise large and complex objects. For example anything that needs a cover: Military Vehicles, Boats, Planes, Helicopters, Trailers.
The 3D Data will be provided in DXF format for processing. If 2D data is required from the 3D digitising, for example ply lining for a van, this can be provided in DXF and other formats.
We can also provide a 3D to 2D unfold service for textile applications or supply the software so that the customer can process the data.
The Proliner 8 is a precision piece of equipment and cannot be used in the rain. However it has been used in winds up to Force 5!
